0.2.4
After a long period of inactivity and promises, 0.2.4 is out!
One thing you should know: this release shows work in progress, but shows the direction Sagittarius is headig.
Well, where shall i begin...
The most important thing, but for users the most invisible (i hope, couse that mean it works well) is that the whole matadata handling (reading, writing and metadata-abstraction) is rewritten. Practically 0.2.4 is a whole new application, the GUI is rewritten as well :-) This happens when a software is not planned and designed, but only coded :-)
Before Sagittarius i had no knowledge about GTK and GTK# (and not much about .net mono and c#), and to tell you the truth, i'm not a software developer. It seemed quite easy to write an app like this, but since 0.2.3 i encountered numerous difficulties, much of them still unsolved.
For instance, the metadata panel (i mean, the iptc panel) looks like a mess. The single line and multi line text-editor widgets look and behave differently. The solution woud be to write a multiline widget that looks and behaves lik a single line one, but that is beyond my knowledge yet.
All in all, even i don't know yet, how 1.0 will look out, but have some plans... :-)
And now about the new features:
No more metadata-editor dialog. Editing happens in the main window (only for iptc, exif is still read only, but only until 0.3)
New display for exif (it is a temporary solution, exif panel will look like iptc)
new date-editor widget. This one is not my own code, but borrowed. Looks nice doesn't it? I know it has a little placement bug, but hopefully there will be a solution in the next reelase.
If everithing goes well, 0.3 will come in a month, bringing exif read-write support.
